Anaheim displays appeal to outdoor adventurers.
Anaheim – it’s finally possible to boldly go where no one has gone before. And take your microwave, laser disc and CD system with you.
Outdoor adventures from backpacking to rafting to heli-skiing are on display and the Anaheim Sports, Vacation and RV Show.
But the centerpieces of the 28th annual event at the Convention Center are the recreational vehicles and motor homes more luxurious than many houses. Surround sound compact-disc systems, spacious brass-appointed showers and remote-control video cassette recorders are becoming the norm in high-end RVs.
At least one company has turned to taking you farther away from it all.
The $70,000 Revcon All-Terrain 4-by-4 Motorcoach – a cross between a monster truck and a Hilton hotel suite – can conquer terrain that was once the domain only o dirt bikes and the most determined hikers.
Irvine-based Revcon takes a Ford F350 dual-cab truck, beefs up the chassis, adds an extra axle, then builds a luxury coach on top of it out of aluminum and aircraft insulation. It’s loaded – two TV’s, both with remote-control VCR’s, six-CD changer system, reclining swivel seats, microwave and much more. Only two exist in the world, but the company’s taking orders for more.
