Revcon Trailblazer takes passengers to the wild country; Los Angeles Times; August 7, 1993
The Revcon Trailblazer, a 4×4 all-terrain motor coach recently introduced by Revcon Motorcoach Inc. of Irvine, will sell for under $75,000, according to Ray Novelli, founder of the off-road company.
Novelli, an all-terrain vehicle and off-road fan, said the first 10 Trailblazers sold almost immediately.
“Four years ago, a 31-foot-long Class A motor home called the Goliath was introduced to the four-wheel-drive market, but it carried a price tag of $200,000, and it never went very far sales-wise.
“It was just too expensive for the average off-roader, although its purpose was highly praised. From the Goliath concept, however, we now have the Revcon Trailblazer, built on a stretched and reinforced Ford XLT 4×4 Crew Cab chassis, and it’s powered with the Ford V-8 460-cubic-inch engine.”
Novelli said the Revcon 4×4 all terrain motor coach will go anywhere the Broncos, Jeeps and Blazers go.
“We can climb sand dunes, cross streams, roll over rocks on mountain back road and conquer any high roadbed which would call for a four-by-four vehicle,” he said.
Construction of the Revcon Trailblazer begins with the removal of the bed of the Ford XLT 4×4 Crew Cab truck. Work then starts to beef up the frame and extend it to accommodate the “coach” part of the motor coach, beginning with the super-structure steel floor system, monocoque aircraft aluminum sidewalls and fiberglass front and rear caps.
The original wheels are removed and replaced with eight-stud-sold-cast aluminum wheels with chrome nuts and caps rated at 3,300 pounds each. The Revcon features leaf spring suspension and air tag-axle and six all-terrain 35-by-16 1/2 inch tires.
The Revcon 4×4 all-terrain motor coach features a 214-inch wheel base and a supplemental Dexter Brake boost.
Up front, the driver and passenger sit on swivel-recline seats, and there are two identical seats behind them for a total of four.
The Trailblazer will offer two floor plans, one with a full walk-around bed in the rear and one with a dining-entertainment area convertible to a full bed. And there’s a cabover full-sized bed with access ladder.
The interior also includes a shower; toilet; two queen-size beds; an oven, range and convection microwave oven in the galley, and a color TV and VCR.
The Revcon has a 36,000-mile/36 month bumper-to-bumper Ford warranty and other warranties on the appliances and fixtures.
